R.I.P Antonio Puerta

The world of football wil be saddened to learn of the tragic death of Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta, three days after collapsing during the season opener against Getafe.

Antonio died in hospital around midday today.

CD Oberena Plantilla 2007/08

New Coach, New Players, New Season.

Oberena have made several changes to their playing staff for the forthcoming season, and also have a new coach.

With the departure of Javier Urizar, Carlos 'Charly' Mendivil, (left), has taken over the reigns, after a year away from the game.

New players:

David Barrachina, (Numancia); Inaki Zubillaga, (Burlades); Jon Ilundain, (Beti Onak); Inaki Izco, (Lagunak); Mikel Barbero, (Mutilvera); Jon Sancet, (Osasuna); Fernando Garcia, Jon Azofra and Inigo Ripodas.

UDC Txantrea 1-1 CD Oberena

Oberena kicked-off the 2007/08 season today, with a 1-1 draw against Txantrea in the Copa Navarra.

In a game played in front of 200 fans, Oberena took the lead in the first half through Gil, but Alfaro equalised for the home team with ten minutes to go.

CD Oberena: Montoro, Ilundain, Izco, Fernando, Ziganda, Gil, Lopez, Jauregui, Zubillaga, Varea, Moler. Subs..Ripodas, Merino, Barbero.

Pre-Season

In June 2007, the Scottish Supporters Club made the trip to Pamplona to see their friends, and introduce the newest member to the delights of the city.

Having been met at the bus station by Angel, and out-going coach Javier Urizar, we spent a fantastic few days catching up with everyone, attending a magnificent night in a local txoko, visiting the CA Osasuna training ground, and presenting the Goalscorer Of The Year award at the Oberena complex. We also visited the world-famous 'Garrick' Pub in Iturrama, where landlord and club president Javier Pellegrin made us most welcome.
